ETA 29 disassembly

Postby locktite401 » 29 Jul 2010, 18:41

I've recently replace the clone ETA mk3 in our Vintage B model with a real mk6 ETA. While it had been butchered a bit in order to fit an r/c throttle it responded well to a new c/l venturi and gave the old Double Dice a real "kick in the pants". After a few comps now it seems that the rear race is damaged. I'm reluctant to just tap off the prop driver because of the flimsiness of the cast flange. I'm not sure that you were even supposed to disassemble ETA front ends.

Any clues?

Split clamp -puller,
Measure the width or the curved groove in the prop driver.

Get two pieces of steel that dimn , Sq, or plate . drill and tap say two in. apart.
Machine on joint to match driver. If theres a 2 or 3 thou. shim between when machineing,
itll clamp nicely .
AND if this is machined for attaching another clamp, you could tension/ wack and itd drop of.
OOPS.

Thanks Matt and the others who have responded via other modes. The front end is now off in the mail to a gent who has a special ETA friendly prop driver puller.

It will be interesting to see what thoses races look like.
