G'day, Has everyone had any experience with the Oliver Tiger repo engines being made in Sydney? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike Boucher

Mike,

you mean the R250? If so you're come to the right place. They're excellent engines. What exactly do you need to know?

Hi Ray, Thanks for answering my question. Basically I wanted to know if these were excellent engines. The 250 is the equal, roughly, of a 19 cu in? I know a PAW 19 can fly a plane that a Fox 35 is meant to. Wanted to know what the 250 is equal to ? Thanks, Mike Boucher

Mike.
The R250 is an excellent engine that is excellently manufactured by a manufacturer that is an active control line flyer. Quality is carefully controlled and every engine produced is a good one.
Steve Rothwell also manufacturs a R320 3.2cc (.19cu in) engine in a limited numbers for combat use and they have more horse power than a 2.5 to pull a model through turns without washing off airspeed.
If you were thinking of buying an R250 then be advised that you will have to wait for over a year for it to arrive as there is a waiting list for orders.
Wanted to know what the 250 is equal to ?

I think that would depend on what aircraft you wanted to use it for.
Did you know that genuine Oliver Tigers are back in production in England and that John Oliver is involved with the manufacture?

Hi CLAMF 1, I didn't know that the original Oliver Tigers are being made again in England. Thanks for letting me know this. Do you have any more information on this? Thanks again, Mike

I repo Tigers , Shouldnt there be an " R " in there somewhere ? as in repRo , for rePROduction/
R-250s appear to be made from unobtainium, which is extremely durable. It can even stand up to
' COMBAT Flyers ' .

Aussies are funny buggers with their condensed form, we never say "Repro" so in accepted terminology over the eons it has become Repo.

Easier to say, less jaw movement, and none of us is normally confused about the term.

In the UK on the other-hand, they might think we are talking about repossessions as in The Repo Man.

As my Mate used to say "english is as she is spake". He was Irish, no one could ever understand what he was saying, but a lovely lad.
